Have You Been on the Subway Lately?

Ellen Driscoll’s “As Above, So Below” (right) is one of more than 225 works of art on the New York City Subway. That’s a larger art collection than many museums have. Faith Ringgold, Sol Lewitt, Romare Bearden and Raul Colon are just some of the names you’ll see for the price of a token.

Not only is there visual art, but depending on where and when you go, there could be live music — some djembe, maybe? — and even performance art. Who knew the NYC Subway would become the happening place for art.
