Like Eggs from Heaven Above

Toshiko Takaezu perfected the art of the closed form. At 87, she is still doing her remarkable thing: making pots, and churning out apprentices every year. This is the time of the year when she offers a studio show and sale of her apprentice’s work. It will be held Dec. 13, 1-5 p.m., at 1177 Croton Road, Quakertown. (908-735-8295)

In 2007, Takaezu made a gift to the New Jersey State Museum, where her work is being handsomely exhibited. Read a wonderful story about it here, but first read my interview with her at her studio several years ago here.

And if that’s not enough Toshiko Takaezu for you, the Hunterdon Museum of Art is exhibiting The Influence of a Teacher: Four Artists Who Studied with Toshiko Takaezu, through March 21.Those four are Bill Baumbach, Don Fletcher, Dan Massad and John Mosler.
