Picturing a River Town

It’s not snowing yet, but with the dismal economic picture and the dreary weather, I thought we could all use a pick-me-up, and this wintry Stockton scene, “Prallsville Mill in Snow”  by Mike Mann,  does the trick.

Mike Mann will show 27 paintings of local scenes in the Prall House program room  through Nov. 28. Who even knew there were exhibits in this building on Route 29 across from  Prallsville Mills?  A portion of the art sales will benefit the Delaware River Mill Society.

Mr. Mann studied at the Art Students League under illustrator Joe Kidd.  His watercolor and acrylic paintings are known for vibrant colors and lively action.  The artist can often be seen with his easel in and around Stockton.  For a little more than a year, he has been working on a series of pictures he calls “Painting the Town,”  many of which are in this show.  Prints of his paintings are also for sale.

“It’s wonderful to live in an area with so many beautiful scenes, and the Prallsville Mills is one of my favorite places to paint,” says Mr. Mann.   “I’m really thrilled be to exhibiting at the Prall House. The DRMS has done a fine job creating a fascinating historic attraction as well a great venue for artists.” Call the artist for more information at (609) 439-9978.
