Considered a “premier arts destination,” New Hope, Pa., is holding its Outdoor Arts and Crafts Festival Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The prestigious, juried event features more than 130 exhibitors specializing in photography, watercolors, oils, pastels, pen and ink drawings, silver and gold jewelry, ceramics, wearable art, glass, wood, sculpture and furniture.
Featured this year is Bob Richey , whose dream of becoming a full time professional artist came true in 1996, when he was able to take advantage of an early retirement offer from his engineering career.
Mr. Richey’s passion for creating art led him first to watercolor before he settled on soft pastels as his primary medium. The artist compares his drawings to a short story, communicating a simple theme, a subtle mood. His works put a strong emphasis on both composition and color.
